Ingredients for 6x2 inch pan (Small Cake)
Dry Ingredients
All purpose flour (APF) - 1 cup + 1 tbsp
Baking Powder - 1 tsp
Baking Soda - 1/4 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Sugar - 2/3 cup
Wet Ingredient
Vegetable Oil or Unsalted Butter - 1/4 cup
Yogurt - 1/2 cup
Milk (preferably room temp) - 1/8 cup
Vanilla Extract - 1/2 tsp
Cocoa Sauce
Hot Water - 2 tbsp
Cocoa Powder (Unsweetened) - 2 tbsp
Method
- Pre-heat oven at 350F/180C. Line the pan with parchment paper and grease it lightly
- Prepare cocoa sauce
- Mix cocoa powder to hot water and stir well and keep aside.
- Preparing vanilla batter
- Mix all the ingredients under dry ingredients and keep it aside
- In a separate bowl hand whisk all the wet ingredients.
- Fold in dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix gently.
- Divide the above batter in two equal parts.
- One part is vanilla batter
- Preparing chocolate batter
- To the second part add cocoa sauce and mix well.
- Pouring the batter
- Pour vanilla and chocolate batter alternatively OR
- You can pour vanilla batter first and and chocolate batter on top of it.
- Bake the cake in the middle rack of your oven.
- It takes around 30-40 minutes to bake.
- Check for doneness at 30 minutes with a toothpick.
- Cool the cake on a wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing it.
